Continuing from previous, trying to help my somewhat slow-minded but overly idealistic & well intentioned friend, it's been like pulling teeth, trying to put things in perspective for him! But he's starting to come around &, day by day, view his family as an ongoing microcosm of the country, and world. He's starting to realize the dripping, oozing, back-biting lies, phoniness, predation, guilefulness, meanness, & nastiness which, ultimately, gushes through families, society and down from government; it all begins in & with the family.
As tough as it is coming to be for Whites today, looking at all the grants, considerations, test-adjustments, freebies, and benefits coming to be available for everything from education to business loans for all manners of women & minorities, this friend's thought(s) evolving? "Boy! I'm glad I have a nice cohesive White family behind me! What could be better?"
Then, as previously noted, reality started to set in. Through every day chats, going's on, he listened, he really tried to listen, to learn, everything he could. His life, trying to be as best a Christian as he could, he tried to always love & support his family, learn everything he could, as the world started to collapse. The jobs he held-from the restaurants he worked at, to the warehousing company, he gave it his all, his best! In his spare time, reading through tons of information, 1000's of pages of books & information & articles he poured thru, weekly, monthly! His personal libraries built up? Absolutely vast! Discovering what was going on in the wider world & where it looked like things were headed, he tried to put things, of ominous portent, before the family. Most things were crapped on, & ignored, up to a point; until some of what the guy had been talking about started to happen.
Then, about 6 yrs after graduating ending up having to abandon law school because his physician brother who, for a joke, said, 2 or 3 times, he'd help out a bit with law school, then reneged @ the last minute. Barely a week or 2 before classes started, the guy mentioned it to family, that he'd been accepted to law school, maybe not expecting much, as he'd paid attn to the "financial song of woe" being sung. As with most financial aid departments, all but told, if he was a gay black latina female, he'd have more money thrown @ him then he knew what to do with.But White middle class? He supposedly had it too good for aid.

But then, after discovering the financial game (with a broken back), he made the mistake, again, of trusting his sister who, from what the guy said, devoted her life to making others look bad, it sounded like just so she could look good, a common neurosis for small people. He even told me of 2 incidents. Her own daughter, "good little Christian girl" wasn't even sacred from the butt of her humour! One Thanksgiving, he said, as all were relaxing,chatting, around the table after dinner when niece was starting to go through the life changes, "her mother" talked about how, during a shower, things went a little red down there. She ran down & asked mom if that was it. At the time it was just a very minor cut, close to the place.
Second incident? Few years later, as a party was starting she, exhaustedly, came through the garage door talking about how she had to return her daughter's pads because they were too thick & bulky and uncomfortable down there when she walked. For all @ the party, creating an interesting visual towards her daughter.
Anyway, the friend made the mistake of pointing out how the world worked in a few areas over a casual lunch between just the 2 of 'em. Rather than accept it, apologize, and thank him for being raped & thrown under the bus, she almost found it funny, even amusing, her brother and his back and law school, dreams, & his marriage were sacrificed to make way for her daughter. She suggested to him being adjudged insane, even crazy, knowing he's not, saying there's a lot of money available there. She was serious. She even told the family to lean on him towards that end.

WITH THIS TYPE OF BACK-BITING SPIRIT EXISTING IN JUST 1 FAMILY, EVEN WHAT APPEARED TO BE A "GOOD" WASP ONE, EXTRAPOLATED OUT TO THE WORLD, IS IT ANY WONDER WE HAVE A PRESIDENT LIKE OBAMA?
